In Apirl 2022, Statevolt founder Lars Carlstrom announced a partnership with an Imperial Valley geothermal and lithium extraction company.

Statevolt will utilize locally sourced lithium from Controlled Thermal Resources for a battery manufacturing plant to be located in Calipatria.

The $4 billion gigafactory is estimated to be one of the largest in the U.S., producing 54 gigawatts per hour and the capacity to serve of 650,000 electric vehicles per year.
